And that's not all. For 1991, Capcom is already working on CPS 2, a new system which is slated to debut in 18 months. "It will be a monster," Cravens promised. "CPS 2 will provide many times the computing power we have now, and even true 3D graphics."

Meantime, to support sales of current product, Capcom is streamlining its U.S. distributor network. "We find we get better response from our distributors when they have the line exclusively," Bill said. "We're returning to pre 1980s-type distribution: one territory, one distributor. The CPS system allows us to do that, and it's worked very well where we've tried it so far."
