mer which it believes will be a "demand" item. Next, SNK may license other video game factories (including some majors) to produce titles for the Neo-Geo system. Last but far from least, SNK is looking at creative marketing ideas that are in tune with the times.
"We have aggressive goals for the next several years," stated John Barone. "Our biggest challenge is to think creatively about new approaches to the market. The rules are always changing in our industry, but today the changes are even
more major and fundamental than usual. The industry can't keep doing business in the '90s the same way it did in the '70s."
THE ART OF FIGHTING
Topping the list is a new street fighting piece which will take the Neo-Geo system to new heights. "Around August we're introducing what we feel is the greatest game we've ever done," John explained. "The tentative title is The Art of Fighting and we believe it will create that 'gotta have it right now' sense of urgency that makes a game a super hit."
Most games use 50 or 60 megabytes of computer memory, explained product & marketing manager Susan Jarocki. "However, The Art of Fighting will double that. SNK put double the usual number of designers to work on it, and we used our very best designers, too. The result will really put the Neo-Geo system to the test."
What will be new and different about The Art of Fighting? Details are under wraps, but SNK did preview a few details. "Unique elements will include the ability of characters to move toward the screen and get bigger, or away from the screen and get smaller, while they are fighting," John said. "Also,
