Capcom's `BreakShot' is

OLD=FASHIONED

FLIPPER FUN!

We keep imagining this scene: the early pioneer fans of pinball are sitting around a campfire, strumming guitars and singing their favorite anthem: "Oh, give my flippers a home, where the ball can freely roam, and the playfield is not crowded all day... " That catchy tune must have inspired the folks at Capcom Coin-Op, because they have launched a new "Capcom Classic" line of simpler, cleaner, affordable pinballs that hark back to the golden age of flipper madness.

First in the series is BreakShot. Classic it surely is, from the tavern & billiards theme ... to the wide-open "noramps" playfield ... to cartoon-type art of sexy girls on the backbox and playfield. Capcom says BreakShot is "designed to appeal to all players," though it obviously holds special appeal to tavem-goers and afficionados of old-fashioned flipper fun. Gameplay takes you through 8-ball, 9ball and "rotation" games of pool, though you don't have to know how to play pool to enjoy this pin.

A "breakshot" feature in playfield center simulatores a pool table's corner and center pockets, qualifying both trick shots and combination shots. "This fea

ture is the indsutry's first-ever loadable

captive ball," Capcom said. "It holds

up to two balls and when a third is

loaded, a three-ball 'Breakshot Frenzy' begins."

The game also features a captive ball which can be hit from many angles, not just one; a super-smooth

full loop shot; a third flipper that shoots

a bank shot in the upper righthand corner; a two-ball "Ball-O-Rama" mode; and ... a moose. (Anyway, a stuffed moosehead is depicted in the backbox art.) You gotta love it!
