The Gyakuten thread of OBJECTION!s, EUREKA!s and TAKE THAT!s

I used the universal word used in all of the game's JP release for the thread title

So Miles Edgeworth 2 is coming out in Japan next year. Hopefully the eng. release will be in 2011 as well.

My personal ranking of the games is-
    1- G. Kenji
    2- G. Saiban 1 & 3
    3- G. Saiban 2
    4- G. Saiban 4 (Apollo Justice)

The Wii games are the full games, however for Ace Attorney 1 the fifth case from the DS remake costs extra (as in, you buy the first game, and it just has the regular four cases like the original Gyakuten Saiban, and then you have the option to buy the fifth case for 100 Wii points). For the other games, when you buy them they come with all the cases.

They still haven't put Apollo Justice on there. I hope they do.

Next year is Gyakuten Saiban's 10th anniversary on GBA. This month was the 9th anniversary. (The DS games were essentially enhanced ports of the originals with remixed music and a different menu setup).

This is my personal ranking of the series:

    1. Trials and Tribulations (AA3)
    2. Ace Attorney (AA1)
    3. Apollo Justice (AA4)
    4. Justice for All (AA2)

I still don't know exactly how I feel about Ace Attorney Investigations, based on what I played of it.

Trials and Tribulations had some great cases and characters, and probably IMO the best writing in the whole series. I feel about the same about Ace Attorney 1 (especially the 3rd and 4th cases) and Apollo Justice had some cool characters, but some really weird cases and plot twists. The writing was still clever though, especially for the first case.

Justice for All had a couple cool plot twists and characters, but it just wasn't as strong plot-wise as the other 3. Especially with Turnabout Big Top, for anyone who's played it. Some of the stuff in the game just made no sense.

The game also came off as trying to be a bit more serious (at least I didn't notice much humor in the game unless it was in, again, Turnabout Big Top) compared to the others. In doing this it lost a lot of the charm of the first game.

Oh damn... I was gonna do a thread for Ace Attorney. No matter, as long as there's a thread for it.

Anyway, I have a particular fondness for the Ace Attorney games, so much that I've been hunting them all down again now I have a new DS console. I just started feeling like I wanted to play them again and regretted selling them all, along with my other DS games. I managed to get JFA, T&T and AJ all new and sealed so far and I'm still waiting for AAI in the mail, which I'm hoping comes on Monday, or I'm gonna have to question the site I bought it from about the games whereabouts. The only one I'm not getting is the first game, but I've got that requested as an Xmas gift, and in the meantime I've got it on the iPod Touch.

As for order of preference, it goes like this -

    Trials And Tribulations
    Justice For All
    Apollo Justice
    Phoenix Wright

Of course, I haven't rated AAI because I haven't played it yet. T&T ranks first because of the epic linked cases and the fact it has the second best villain of all the games (I rate Kristoph as the best villain), not to mention Godot is one of the most interesting and charismatic Prosecutors in the franchise and playing as Mia in her earlier cases is a nice touch. It also gave the first opportunity to play as Edgeworth which is the icing on the cake as far as I'm concerned.

I don't know about JFA not being all that humorous... it's been a while since I played it. I do recall Franziska and her tendecy to whip everyone that annoys her, which was pretty funny, and her constant use of the word "Fool" and any other variations of it. Other than that, I like the cases a lot, with Turnabout Big Top being my favourite. I think it was pretty unique among the cases in the franchise because the killer wasn't really that bad and just wanted revenge for what happened, which made for quite an emotional moment when Phoenix revealed him as the killer. The last case was also pretty intense with a particularily despicable villain and as far as a sense of tension goes, it was only really outdone by the last case in Trials And Tribulations.

Apollo Justice was kind of a weird game at points, but I liked it. Also, as I mentioned, I think Kristoph is the best villain of the franchise and the story surrounding the game as a whole was interesting. I liked seeing Phoenix all calm and chilled too. Makes me want to see him return to being a defense attorney so he can apply some of that attitude to cases. Apollo wasn't bad, and Trucy was a pretty good stand in for Maya, Klavier was a cool and somewhat different prosecutor (He wasn't all about resorting to crooked means in order to win, and he didn't have a vendetta against Apollo) and I liked seeing Ema take Gumshoes place. Sorry if you're a fan of Gumshoe, but I like Ema way better. Although I like the idea of Edgeworth having his own games, I hope CAPCOM also do some follow ups to Apollo Justice too.

As for Phoenix Wright, I just feel like it's the least interesting game. Not to say it isn't interesting at all, but I just like the others better for cases, suspense, characters and music. I know some of you might feel differently, but I just feel like the other games surpass it in a lot of areas.

Anyway, I hope to get to play Ace Attorney Investigations soon and that the sequel doesn't take too long to get it's Western release. Also, here's hoping Phoenix Wright Vs Professor Layton will be a great game.

The game will be released in Japan in March, so we can expect an X-Mas release for Eng. ver.
Japan will get various Special Editions of the game-

Hopefully US/EU releases will follow a similar route, that Edgeworth figure looks sweet.

Hell yeah, I would definitely buy a special edition so I could get the Edgeworth figure. It looks very cool.

Maybe, if Capcom acknowledge and choose to use the chracter again.
If that is him and Capcom use him just like last time, then who hired him might be connected to the final turnabout or such.

I was replaying Kenji again today and am now at Turnabout 3. Some stuff I just wanted to comment on-
1- Gavin's band was gonna play at the park (lol)
2- The victim in Kenji 2's first turnabout is the president of Zheng Fa, looks like we can expect some more of Lang Zi's quotes in the 2nd game ;3
    3- ROFL-

4- You guys DO know who the 4 Badgers are based off of right?

Speaking of which, what's the status of Badd and Godot? Would be awesome to have them re-appear to solve some cases that are connected to ones they were involved with in the past.
