Nuby Tech Inc. has been in the peripheral/accessories business for quite some time. With their recent and up and coming projects with SNK and Capcom themed controllers/joysticks, they're getting bigger than ever. Fans are excited and we're more excited to wonder what else they have in the works.
TRIEU: Can you give us some historical data about Nuby Tech?
Nuby Tech: Nuby was started in 1989 as one of the first companies to enter the video game accessories industry. We enjoyed immediate success supplying third-party products for Nintendo and other major consoles platforms. The industry has changed a lot since 1989 but Nuby has been a mainstay and an established brand name of the video game accessory business ever since.
TRIEU: Console gaming fans for the PS2 is really excited about the themed controllers that Nuby Tech, along with Udon's art is about to unveil displaying Capcom's Street Fighter characters. How many characters in total does Nuby Tech plan to release for these controllers? Do you also plan on releasing these controllers for other systems as well?
Nuby Tech: We have four character specific controllers (Akuma, Ryu, Ken and Chun-Li) slated for release in August at the moment. NubyTech is currently still deciding whether or not to release a complete line of Street Fighter character specific controllers, but it definitely still a possibility. NubyTech has plans for Xbox Street Fighter products but what they are and when it will be released is still a secret. I mean I could tell you but then I’d have to kill you!
TRIEU: Nuby Tech also licenses characters from SNK's King of Fighters series, which you recently released the limited Edition King of Fighters 2000/2001 fighting stick for the PS2. How many pieces were made for this release and how were sales for this item?
Nuby Tech: The King of Fighters series from SNK has a very strong and dedicated following here in the US and internationally. The Limited Edition King of Fighters arcade stick is an example of NubyTech’s commitment to creating “game-centric” products that appealed to hardcore fans of a particular game series. All I know is that we only have a very small quantity of the King of Fighters arcade stick left in stock. Those things went really fast.
TRIEU: Of all of your products released thus far, what peripheral/accessory do you think Nuby/Nuby Tech has made the biggest impact on consumers in terms of satisfaction?
Nuby Tech: Without a doubt the SoulCalibur II Universal Arcade Stick. This arcade stick was well received by the fans of the SoulCalibur series and offered amazing value as it worked on all three consoles.
TRIEU: Is there any peripheral/accessory that Nuby/Nuby Tech did not make that you wish you did?
Nuby Tech: We wanted to release an 18 karat gold PS2 and Xbox controller with diamonds for the buttons but Neiman Marcus wouldn’t carry it.
TRIEU: Are there any upcoming projects in the near future that you can share with the fans? As you know, the anticipation for the Street Fighter control pads is almost unbearable for some collectors/gamers out there, so any other news would help alleviate some of the pain.
Nuby Tech: You wouldn’t believe what we are working on, even if I told you. All I can say is that exciting things are happening in the NubyTech development studio.
TRIEU: Every business has a vision towards the future in terms of innovative products. What does Nuby Tech see themselves producing for the gaming consoles in the next few years?
Nuby Tech: NubyTech is committed to producing innovative licensed video game peripherals that will revolve around core video game properties. We have a lot of ideas, and we are not even beginning to scratch the surface of what we can do to enhance the gaming experience.
TRIEU: Thank you for your time and if you would like to add any comments for the fans, please do so.
Nuby Tech: Thanks for all your support and just keep on gaming.
