Overview
You begin the game having a picnic with your beloved Princess Guinevere, when all of a sudden, this big red demon comes and kidnaps her right before you eyes. Arthur then decides to suit up his armor and save Guinevere. There are 6 levels in the game, and 7 bosses, all of which provide a somewhat decent challenge.

Graphics 8/10
Since the game was made in 85, you wouldn't expect much from the graphics, but they arent bad at all, there's lots of colors in the game, everything has a nice amount of detail to it(even the frog). The backgrounds look very nice too, Capcom did a good job making sure they fit the rest of the level.

Gameplay/Controls 8/10
You start the game off with a Lance, but you can get a few different weapons durring the course of the game(Axe, Dagger, Flame, Cross/Shield) all of them do the same amount of damage to the enemies, but some are fast, some are slow, some go far, some only travel a quarter of the screen. With the Lance, you can shoot 3 at a time, it goes all the way accross the screen, but is rather slow. The Axe goes about half way across the screen, you can shoot out 2 or 3 at a time and they go through eneimies, so you can throw 1 axe and attack more than one enemey. The Dagger is pretty much a smaller and faster version of the Lance, so if you happen to come across one of these, I suggest you replace your Lance with this. The Flame would have to be the worst weapon in the game, you can only shoot out 2, but when you shoot them out they burst into a flame thats about the same size as Arthur, and when 2 are down on the ground, you can't shoot anymore until one of them goes away, so if you get thisweapon, try to make sure you hit your target. The Cross/Shield can go through and destroy the projectiles that most enemies through, it only goes half way across the screen, but its worth keeping for 2 reasons, you can fight enemies and bosses more easier with it since it goes through projectiles, and you need this to fight the final boss, if you don't have it, you get sent back a level or 2.

The hit detection to the game ruins it for some, you get hit by things that never touched you, and it seems like you land on a moving platform, yet you fall into the water. When you jump, you can only jump in 3 directions, and you connot change the direction while in the air.

Level 1- The GraveYard/Forest This level has Zombies, Blue Crows, Evil Plants, Ghosts that throw harpoons, Flying Ghosts(?) with shields, a Magician who turns you into a frog(hit a tombstone 15 times) Red Demon and the Boss(Big giant leaping Ogre with a projectile).

Level 2- Town This one has Purple demons, Blue demons, Blue Crows, Red Crows, Big guys with Tatoos(I don't know what they're called) and the Boss, the boss of this levelis 2 of those Big Ogres, but one is faster and leaps further than the other.

Level 3- Caves This has Bats, Zombies, Statues that shoot you, a lot of Red Demons, Ghosts that shoot harpoons and the Boss. the boss is a skeleton Dragon which isn't that hard too take out.

Level 4- Lava Pit There aren't many enemies here, just Red Demons and Blue Demons, the Boss is just like level 3's boss, but this one is more random, it doesn't have a pattern like the level 3 boss.

Level 5- Castle(First Floor) There's Blue Demons, but now they've got fireballs with them, Red Demon, the Big guys with Tatoos, Ghosts that throw harpoons, Skeletons that pop out of the ground, bats and the Boss, which is the Big Devil who stole Princess Guinevere from you at the begining of the game, this is also the level where you can find the Cross/Shield in.

Level 6- Castle(Second Floor) Now this level is fun, and why wouldn't it be, they had to make the last level the best out of them all. We've got Ghosts, Skeletons from the ground, the boss from level 1, the boss from level 3, Red Demon, the big guys with tatoos and the boss from level 5, but 2 of them.

Final Battle This is where you fight the final boss, he's a pretty guy with 2 faces, one on his head, and one on his belly. You need to shoot him in his eyes, the set thats on his belly, to do any damage to him, then once you beat him, you get to ......., well, I won't ruin it for you, go beat the game and find out for yourselves.

Sound/Music 7/10
This game has produced some of the best music that Capcom has to offer, the catchy tunes stay stuck in your head long after you've played through the game, and for some, years after they played the game. Most of the enemies sound exactly alike, and all of your weapons sound the same when hitting the enemies, that's why I deducted some points from the sound.

Replay Value 10/10
If you suck at the game, or if you've beaten it dozens of times, this is one of the games you can always play when you've got nothing else better to do, the ports are just as good, so you can get those instead of looking for an arcade in your area with the game.

Overall 8/10
Not the best in the series, but its well worth your time if you're an old school gamer, I know most of your newer gamers may not like the game cause it isn't a walk in the park like most of the newer games, but give it a shot newbies, play a game that can blister up your thumbs. You also see where some of the things in SvC Chaos came from.
