Overview
The Street Fighter series has been around for last 15 years. They have ruled the arcade scene for the past 15 years. There have been many different Street Fighter games and series. The first Street Fighter was anything but good. It was horrible. Then, Street Fighter 2 took the world by storm and brought Arcade gaming to it's peak. There has also been many different versions of Street Fighter 2. Many people spend countless hours of their lives playing Street Fighter 2 when if first hit the Arcade scene. The next series was the Street Fighter Zero (Alpha) series. There were 3 games in this series. Along with new, faster gameplay came many new memorable characters. Street Fighter's next step was into the 3D realm with the Street Fighter EX series. It was an average 3 fighter, nothing to get excited about. The latest step in the Street Fighter series was the long awaited Street Fighter 3 series. There are 3 games in the Street Fighter 3 series. New Generation, Double Impact and Third Strike. Who knows what Street Fighters next step is, but you can bet that it is gonna be a step in the right direction.
Graphics 10/10
The graphics for Third Strike are simply amazing. They are by far the best graphics in any Street Fighter game to date. The Sprites look fantastic in action. The Backgrounds are also amazing, the best in any Street Fighter. The Art is also really good. Some of the best Street Fighter art you will see around.
Gameplay/Controls 10/10
The gameplay and controls are similar Double Impact's. That isn't a bad thing. You select your character and choose a super art. Super Arts are special moves that take a great deal of damage. You must have you Super Art Gauge filled to use an Super Art. You get to chooe one of three Super Arts to use. Some of them are useless and some of them aren't. It just depends on what kind of player you are. EX moves are more damaging basic command moves than regular command moves. If your Super Arts gauge is flashing blue, then you can use an EX move. To do an EX move, do the command and hit both Punch buttons or both Kick buttons.
Basic Specially Techniques:
Parrying= Forward as an attack is coming towards. If the parry connects, it gives you the upper hand for that part of the match
Throw= Light Punch and Light Kick simultaneously
Taunt/Personal Action= Heavy Punch and Heavy Kick simultaneously
New to Third Strike is the Grade Judge system. It grades your performance during the match if you won the match.
Sound/Music 10/10
The soundtrack for Third Strike is the best Soundtrack for any Street Fighter game. I couldn't find one bad song on the soundtrack. The best song has to be Yun and Yang's stage's theme. It is the best Street Fighter song. The gameplay sound is really great. The voices for Yun,Yang and Alex are different in Third Strike then in Double Impact. That is a real good thing.
Replay Value 10/10
The Replay Value is extremely high. It is fun to play and you can't stop playing it. It is a very competitive game and that makes it more fun to play. I guarantee you will still be playing Third Strike in 5 years.
Overall 10/10
This is a must own for Dreamcast owners and and Street Fighter fanatics. Do whatever you can to get this game. It is a must own.
