Look everybody, it’s Final Fight…with one player…and only two heroes…and a missing stage…and a body swap…and Guy is selectable, but Cody is out. What the hell!?!

Overview
Were you one of the many fans of Capcom who got the short end of the stick and got unappreciated by giving a limited, cut and paste, Final Fight? Well, good news! There doing it again, but this time their hoping you don’t notice the difference cause Guy is back, baby. With Guy making his presence felt, Cody takes a backseat as he isn’t in this one. Please bear with me as this time, as this maybe the shortest review I have ever done, with good reason…

Graphics 7/10
So here we are. It’s the same old, same old. Let’s go through are list of what hasn’t change from the last game. The stages…check. The bad guys…check. The weapons…check. Characters…oh, hold the phone there!! Guy is in it, so it’s not a total lost. I always saw him as a more polish and legit looking fighter then Cody, but that’s just me.

The cut scenes and endings having Guy only and no Cody once again makes us remember why it feels odd, considering Cody was to come with them cause Haggar’s daughter, Jessica, was dating at that time. To know that Cody was in Japan, on a vacation, I guessing no one wanted to inform him that his girlfriend was kidnapped. The ending also make a turn for the worse and then better, as Capcom, during the credits, gives us an additional reminder of what truly happen in the arcade version near the thank you screen, making it sort of cute and funny at the same time.

Gameplay/Controls 5/10
Oh, you were hoping something more then Guy…the answer would be “No.” Nothing happen while you were out. Stages (the missing area is still missing), bad guys, bosses, bonus stages, Haggar, breakable boxes/barrels, weapons, Poison/Roxy swaps for Sid/Billy, and no two player mode are still there.

For those who never played Guy before, here’s a brief idea of what his skills consist of: His agility is very fast and unleashes the best special of the original three heroes, a hurricane kick type maneuver. To counter his superiority of speed, his physical ninja attacks do a lot less damage to enemies, making it a little longer for him to totally knock dead the bad guys to blinking body oblivion.

Even with having Guy in the game and his different arsenal of attacks, I’m not going to change it any of the number, simple because it is still selection of two fighters. The controls and difficulty is the exact layout, too. Shoot, inputting a new harder mode option could have even saved this from becoming utter trash. However, you can’t get everything in the world.

Sound/Music 5/10
Do I need to repeat myself? The voice acting and the sound effect are still here in their entirely. The music is that of the same quality of the original released SNES version. Why? Cause they didn’t do a damn thing. The main focus was Guy and everything else was not moved or altered in any way, shape, or form. If you really want to know what I thought of the listening, just look back at my “Final Fight (SNES)” review and look at the sound and music section. I know it makes me sound lazy, but trust me. You’re better off what I just told you…

Replay Value 3/10
Everything remains the same, except the deletion of Cody and the inclusion of Guy. I’ll be honest as to not to blame Guy for the lowering of the replay score from the first Final Fight with Cody and Haggar. What throws everything out of the door is the fact it was a rental exclusive to Blockbuster video stores.

Yes, you read it right. It wasn’t even for home sale. Also, by the time this came out, it was totally outdated and there were better side scrolling action games to get then this one. You’ll be lucky today to find somebody have in their possession, probably at a bargain store or stole it, many years ago.

Overall 3/10
Final Fight Guy should only appeal for people who really, desperately, psychotically wanted to play Guy on their home set. This was a piss poor showing of Capcom wanting nothing more then to grab and milk the few remaining dollars left in the pockets of unsuspecting victims.

None of those suggestions from the first adaptation were met, so would you want to play it again? All we got was switching Cody for Guy. Unless, you are ultimately a fan for the Final Fight series…you could give it a rental shot. That is, if you can actually find one.
