"The roar of the helicopters overhead snaps us back into reality.
We will never forget the nightmare of that summer...."
Overview
The first game for the Neo and quit possibly that toughest out of the bunch.
Once you play the game and see what's going on in the story, 2 things will pop into your head, Full Metal Jacket and Apocalypse Now, this game takes lines and scenes from the movies and does a good job of it. The game is kind of like Cabal and Operation Wolf, but once you play it, you'll see how it stands out from the two. You either play as Silver or Brown and your mission is to rescue Dr. R.(Richard) Muckly and his daughter Nancy from Northside Terrorists.
Graphics 5/10
Okay, this is the lowest point of the game, it was made in 1990 and was the first neo game, so its got a good excuse for lacking in this department, the cut scenes to the game look average at best. The best looking thing in the game would be the final boss, everything else is either decent or garbage, but everything else about the game will make you forget about the looks.
Gameplay/Controls 9/10
The game has an insane challenge to it, and this is what has driven a lot of gamers away from it, most people say its impossible to beat without using cheats which is a lie. In MVS mode you get all the credits that you can pay for until you reach the final boss, on the home cart you only get 4 credits until you get to the final boss, because once you get to him, you get no more continues, so you have to beat him with however many lives you have left and this boss has been called the most challenging in any game....EVER.
Now, you start out with a machine gun, but you never run out of ammo for this gun, you can also get a Balcan which is a more powerful and faster version of the machine gun, this is the best weapon in the game, you also will run into a Missile(Rocket Launcher) which does a lot of destruction, but you only get a few rounds for it and the other gun is called Fire(Flamethrower), it kills enemies and burns them into ashes, but it doesn't have good reach, so I recommend you stay away from this. You also start out with grenades, which do a lot of damage, you can also find a Spark bomb and a Napalm bomb, both are better than the grenade, but you only come across these about once per level.
The controls to the game always get a mixed reaction, but after after a few times playing the game, you get used to it. You're able to walk, run and roll, the roll is used to evade attacks, and it works all the time, against any weapon in the game, you just need to time it right.
Sound/Music 10/10
The game has a great soundtrack and the characters talk, so you don't have to read words, for all of you lazy people. The voice actors did a good job on this game, it even has the good old SNK Engrish that everyone has come to know and love.
Replay Value 10/10
This game will have you playing forever until you beat it, and that might take you a while to do. There are 2 different endings to the game, you'll most likely get the bad ending 99% of the time and that alone will make you want to play for the good ending, which isn't as good as the bad ending, but you'll be happy once you earn this one.
Overall 10/10
This is my favorite game of all time, it get a 10 in my book, the graphics mean nothing to me, just because the game is great overall, once you get your hands on the game, you'll see how good old school SNK is compared to the now SNK Playmore...*cough* Metal Slug 5...SvC:Chaos *cough* whoa, excuse me.
