Title SVC Chaos: SNK VS CAPCOM
Manufacturer Playmore (SNK)
System/Year MVS/2003
Genre 2D Fighting
Players 1 or 2
Ports AES

SNK smacks Capcom up-side the head! Dan is actually a challenge! Instead of using Morrigan for drooling purposes, they include Dimitri, who should have been in MVC2, instead of Ankaris! Goentiz returns, for all who love (hate) him! Now, if they'd just add in Kain, Grant (Rock was in CVS2), and Krauser! Have people pick them, and face off against Terry, Rock, or Geese! Kain v Geese! Drools!

Overview
First, the killers, that knock it down. There are only four buttons. While this is good for when I use my SNK guys, I really want six, especially for my Cap side. Small ish. HOWEVER, especially in a really tight match-up, it's UNACCEPTABLE to have an MK pop-up instead of an HK! The wrong move can be the difference between winning and loosing, as my wanting to sweep my opponents miss, and Super! You MUST be 100% precise with pulling the stick directly down. If you hit DF/B, you'll get an MK. I also don't like having to hit AB/CD to throw. I prefer the traditional F/B + Button. Oh, and it's UNFORGIVABLE that they changed the motion for Terry's Power Geyser! You don't mess with what Rox. That's why I didn't like his FF3/MOTW incarnations! Personally, I wish it would be a team-up! Since this is an SNK game, it can be done like KOF, no "ratio!" Lastly, any character with a fireball (even Tessa) will constantly fire them off, like some people have been known to do. This makes playing the game against these CPU controlled characters annyoing! Wish they'd stop including Dhalsim, and "BIG GUYS;" hardly anyone uses them. I mentioned SNK bosses I'd rather see. On Cap, I'd like to see Urine, Gill, Pyron, Jedah, Hutzil, and Donavan...just to see him in the same place as Dan! Now, to the goods! Wow! Dan's actually (somewhat) a challenge. Fireball's still small. However, he now has the big fireball the Kyogen's have; think Sakura's SFA2, hitting punch 3x. Has a sort of counter fist like Takuma. Fans can cheer/jeer, with Goentiz's return. And this fanboy can cheer, as my Fanfic suggestion of an "Evil Ken" is hear, and my idea that he chains all 3 Supers into one is wild! On the subject, wonder if we'll ever see: Evil Ryu, Evil Ken, Dark Sakura, Shin Akuma, and Orochi Versions of Iori, Leona, Chris, Shermie, and Yashiro! I know people would be happy with the regular versions of the last four! No "recyled images." Everyone looks and plays well. Refer to comments on Dan. In the CVS games, the SNK side seemed weak in areas, compared to Cap, so making both balanced is great! Three level super meter. At L3, it becomes a timer, and you either use your Exceed Move, or can use multiple level one Supers, usually two. There is no A+B roll or dodge. Instead, you have one of two options. You can Guard cancel: CD, same as KOF. The other option is Guard cancel front step: Press f,f or BC while blocking, and you do an invincible dash that can be cancelled at any time into a move.

Graphics 8/10
Looks better than the CVS titles. Dan looks more like lavander than pink. Wish SVC had him in green. Evil Ken is impressive, especially when he "teleports," which looks somewhat like Rock's. As usual, SNK has an awsome display! The Crystal stage kicks!

Gameplay/Controls 5/10
As I said, in the heat of battle, having an MK pop-up instead of an HK can be VERY annoying! Changing good moves are a crime! Changing how throws are done in SFA3 and Third Strike weren't for the better. The same holds here. I may be harsh, on these few things, but the first issue is just a sin. If they wanted it, then they should have put six buttons in the first place! Otherwise, just leave it like CVS.

Sound/Music 8/10
Good as graphics are! New music for the stages the new stages. Not attempting to "make it real" like in MVC2. Music you expect in a fighting game, not something that is out of place.

Replay Value 7/10
We've had a chance to see these dream matches from Cap's POV, now it's SNK's turn. You can only have 1-on-1 fights, so you can't switch and experiment with other characters as quickly. Still, you get characters, like Dimitri and Genjuro, in a chance for a real Vs!

Overall 8/10
This is what the game should have been! Hopefully, SVC2 will be a team game! While the Exceed is nice, I still would like to see the Grooves. C, A, S, and N grooves should remain. P & K should be combined into a new P groove. Parry, which is to tap F at the last moment, and just defend, which is to tap B at the last moment. Parry fills super meter, and JD does life. The new K groove should be like the engine in Real Bout: second meter allows you to do multiple Supers, the rest being how it is now, regarding supers, guard cancels, etc.
